These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of SailorKNOT, online recruitment portal ("Platform") designed for the Shipping Maritime / allied industries. By accessing, registering, or using any part of the Platform, you ("User", "Job Seeker", "Employer", or "Recruiter") agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.
1. Definitions- "Job Seeker": An individual using the Platform to create a profile, upload a CV, or apply for maritime-related jobs.“User”: Is any natural person or legal entity that accesses, browses, registers on, or otherwise interacts with the Platform, whether or not such interaction involves the creation of an account or the exchange of consideration."Employer/Recruiter": Any organization or authorized individual using the Platform to search, evaluate, or contact candidates. "Services": Includes job posting, CV database access, candidate search, communication tools, and any other features provided on the Platform. "Paid Services": Subscription plans, database access packages, posting credits, or other fee-based functionalities.
2. Eligibility-Users must be at least 18 years of age. Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. Provide accurate and truthful information during registration. Employers must be legally established entities permitted to hire personnel.
3. Account Registration & Responsibilities-3.1 Job Seekers-Must provide accurate personal and professional details. Must not upload false, misleading, or fraudulent documents. Are responsible for maintaining confidentiality of login credentials. Employers / Recruiters-Must use the Platform solely for legitimate recruitment purposes. Must not misuse candidate data or contact job seekers for non-recruitment activities. Shall not share login credentials with unauthorized third parties. The Platform/ Parent Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms without prior intimation.
4. Use of the Platform -Users agree NOT to: Post false, defamatory, offensive, or unlawful information. Impersonate any person or entity. Use bots, scripts, or automated tools for data extraction. Engage in harmful, malicious, or fraudulent activity. Upload content that violates intellectual property rights. The Platform/ Parent Company may monitor activities to ensure compliance. The Platform strictly complies to the policy of no fee whatsoever for accessing /posting CVs’ or searching for such CVS’ and no person or organization is authorised to act on behalf of the Platform. Users’ are advised to strictly desist from contact with any third parties and refer to the contact details of the Platform as provided
5. Employers /Recruiters Payment-Certain features require payment through subscription or one-time purchase. Payments will be processed via secured mode. Fees once paid are non-refundable, unless otherwise stated in writing. The Company reserves the right to modify subscription plans, pricing, and features with prior notice. Failure to complete timely payments may result in suspension of paid services.
6. Content Ownership & License -6.1 User Content-By uploading or submitting content (such as CVs, company profiles, job postings), you grant the Platform a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to: Store, display, reproduce, and transmit such content for Platform operations. You retain ownership of your content.
6.2 Company Content -All intellectual property on the Platform—including design, text, trademarks, and software—is owned by or licensed to the Platform/Parent company. Unauthorised use of Platform content or any copyright infringement is prohibited and users violating or infringing content and/or copyright may result in penalties and attract Civil and/or Criminal liability.
7. General Terms- All payments made for services on the Platform are considered final. Due to the nature of digital services, all fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable, except as expressly stated in this Policy or required by applicable law.
8. Cancellation of Services by User -2.1 Job Seekers Free accounts may be cancelled at any time by deleting the profile,2.2 Employers / Recruiter-Subscription plans cannot be cancelled once purchased.
9. Non-Refundable Payments-Refunds will not be issued under the following circumstances- Change of mind after purchase. User dissatisfaction due to lack of job matches or candidate responses. Incorrect or incomplete information provided by the user.Failure to use the service within the validity period. Suspension or termination of account due to violation of Terms & Conditions. Inability to access the Platform due to user's device, internet, or technical issues not caused by the Company
10. Refunds in Exceptional Cases -Refunds may be granted only under the following exceptional circumstances. Duplicate payment made for the same service. Payment charged in error due to a technical glitch. Payment failure where the amount was debited but the service was not activated. In such cases: Users must submit a formal request within 7 days of the transaction. Refunds will be processed after verification by the Company. Refunds, when approved, will be issued to the original payment method.Refund processing may take 7–14 business days, depending on the bank or payment gateway.The Company reserves full discretion to approve or reject any refund request.
11. Cancellation or Modification by the Company-The Company reserves the right to:Modify or discontinue services. Reject registrations or subscriptions. Terminate accounts for legal, security, or policy reasons payment gateway.The Company reserves full discretion to approve or reject any refund request.
12. Failed or Reversed Transactions-For payment failures or reversed transactions:The Company is not responsible for delays caused by banks, UPI networks, or third-party processors.
13. No Guarantee of Hiring or Candidate Selection-Users understand that:The Platform only facilitates recruitment and communication.We do not guarantee job placement, candidate selection, or hiring outcomes.
14. Changes to This Policy-The Company may update or revise this Policy at any time. Updated versions will be posted on the Platform along with the effective date.
15. Data Protection & Privacy-Use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, compliant with DPDP (India) and GDPR (EU). By using the Platform, you acknowledge and accept the processing of personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
16. Communication Between Job Seekers & Employers -Employers must communicate with Job Seekers strictly for recruitment. Harassment, spamming, or misuse of contact information is prohibited. The Platform/Company is not liable for direct interactions between users.
17. Accuracy of Information-While the Platform takes reasonable measures to verify profiles and job listings, it does not – a) Guarantee accuracy, completeness, or authenticity of content. b)Guarantee that job opportunities or candidate availability will lead to employment. c)Users are responsible for conducting independent verification.d) Registering / uploading / submitting your resume does not promise/ guarantee a job offer that meets your requirements.
18. Platform Availability & Maintenance -The Platform does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Services may be suspended temporarily for maintenance or unforeseen issues. The Platform/Company is not liable for losses arising from downtime or service interruptions.
19. Limitation of Liability-To the maximum extent permitted by law: The Platform/Company is not responsible for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform. The Platform/Company does not participate in actual hiring decisions and bears no responsibility for employment outcomes. The Platform is provided on an "as-is" basis without warranties of any kind.
20. Indemnification-Users agree to indemnify and hold the Platform/Company harmless from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from: Violation of these Terms Misuse of the Platform Infringement of third-party rights.
21. Termination-The Platform/Company may suspend or terminate a User’s account: For breach of Terms. For security or legal concerns. Upon user request. Upon termination, access to all Platform services will cease immediately.
22. Third-Party Services -The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or tools. The Platform/Company is not responsible for: Content on such third-party sites. Availability, policies, or practices of external services.
23. Governing Law & Jurisdiction -These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Mumbai, India.For international users, local laws may also apply where relevant. third-party sites. By registering as Candidate / Company on SailorKNOT, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") sets out the manner in which SailorKNOT and/or its parent company ("Company", "we", "our", or "us") collects, processes, stores, transfers, shares, and protects personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act – India) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU). This Policy governs all users of our online recruitment and job matching portal for the shipping maritime and allied industries ("Platform").
By accessing or using the Platform, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the terms of this Policy.

Contact details: address, phone number, email. Professional information: CV/resume, work history, skills, certifications , passport details, CDC, seafarer documents. Profile photograph. Job preferences, availability, expected salary. Account credentials (username/password) 2.2 Employers / Recruiters -Company name, registration details. Authorized contact person name and designation. Business email, phone number. Job listings, recruitment activity history.Account credentials. 2.3 Financial & Payment Data -If you opt to use paid features or subscriptions: Billing information. Payment records, transaction IDs. Note: All card or UPI-related data is handled directly by our PCI DSS compliant payment gateway partners; we do not store card numbers or banking credentials. 2.4 Automatically Collected Data - IP address, browser type, device identifiers. Cookies and similar technologies. Log files and interaction data on the Platform
3. Legal Basis for Processing -Under DPDP Act (India) -We process personal data based on: Explicit and freely given consent, or Other legitimate grounds permitted under law. Under GDPR (EU) -Processing is carried out under one or more lawful bases: Consent. Performance of a contract. Compliance with legal obligations. Legitimate interests of the Company (e.g., fraud prevention, security).Protection of vital interests
4. Purposes of Processing-We process personal data for the following purposes: Account creation, identity verification, and profile management. Enabling job seekers to upload CVs and employers to view profiles. Recruitment facilitation and communication. Verification of authenticity of candidate document. Operation of subscription plans, payment processing, invoicing, and fraud prevention. Platform improvement, analytics, and security monitoring. Compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements. Responding to user queries and providing customer support.
5. Consent Management -By consenting to, registering on SailorKNOT, uploading your CV, your oral statement or initiating a paid service, you provide explicit, informed, and voluntary consent for the processing of your personal data. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting info@sailorknot.com. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing conducted prior to such withdrawal. Certain services may become unavailable upon withdrawal.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure -Personal data may be shared with: Registered employers/recruiters for legitimate recruitment purposes. Third party service providers including hosting, analytics, communication tools, and payment gateways. Law enforcement agencies or government authorities when mandated under applicable law. We do not sell, trade, or commercially rent personal data. All third party processors are bound by confidentiality, data security, and compliance obligations consistent with the DPDP Act and GDPR.
7. Payment Gateway & Financial Data Protection-Payments on the Platform are processed through certified third party payment gateways. Such gateways comply with industry standards including PCI DSS. We do not store or process your credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking, or wallet credentials. We store only transaction metadata such as amount, date, status, and transaction ID for audit and verification.
8. Cross Border Data Transfers-Your personal data may be stored or processed in jurisdictions outside India or the EU. For GDPR-regulated users, transfers are protected by: Adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or Other legally recognized safeguards.
9. Data Retention Policy -We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required under law. Job seeker data is retained while the account remains active. Employer data is retained during subscription or contractual periods. Financial records are retained in accordance with statutory requirements. Users may request deletion of their account and associated data, subject to lawful retention obligations.
10. Rights of Users - Under DPDP Act-You have the right to: Access your personal data. Request correction of inaccurate data. Withdraw consent. Request erasure of personal data. Nominate a representative for exercising rights. Under GDPR -You may exercise the right to: Access. Rectification. Erasure (Right to be Forgotten).Restriction of processing. Data portability. 11. Data Security Measures-We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures including: Encryption, SSL/TLS. Firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The Platform/Company shall not be liable for breaches beyond its reasonable control.

13. Children’s Data -The Platform is not intended for individuals below 18 years, and we do not knowingly process such data.

2. No Employment Guarantee -The Platform is only a facilitation tool. The Company :Does not take responsibility/ guarantee employment or job placement for job seekers. Does not take responsibility/ guarantee that employers will find suitable candidates. Is not responsible for the outcome of any hiring, negotiation, interview, or onboarding process. All hiring decisions are made solely by the Employer/Recruiter.
3. Accuracy of User-Generated Content -The Platform contains user-submitted content such as CVs, professional documents, job descriptions, and company details. The Company: Does not verify every detail uploaded by users. Is not liable for false, misleading, incomplete, or outdated information provided by any user. Users are advised to independently verify the authenticity of any information obtained from the Platform.
4. No Professional Advice -No content on the Platform should be construed as: Legal advice. Career or professional consulting. Maritime compliance guidance. Users should obtain independent professional advice where required.
5. Third-Party Links & Services -The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, payment gateways, or external tools. The Company does not :Endorse, guarantee, or take responsibility for third-party content. Control the availability, security, or privacy practices of external sites. Users interact with third-party services at their own risk.
6. Platform Availability-While the Company strives to maintain uptime and reliability, we do not guarantee that the Platform will be: Error-free or uninterrupted. Free from viruses, malware, or harmful components. Available at all times. The Company is not liable for any loss or disruption caused by downtime, maintenance, or technical issues.
